A notorious section of road in Vermont has been officially closed for the winter season this week.
The Vermont Agency of Transportation announced the closure of Smugglers Notch, once considered a section of Vermont 108, on Wednesday, December 4th.
The section of road was first shut down due to weather a few weeks ago with a possibility of reopening, but officials have since determined that it should officially remain closed for the season.
Smugglers Notch is a notoriously sticky section of road for semi trucks, which cannot traverse the single-lane road lined by boulders. A series of chicanes were installed earlier this year in an attempt to prevent further issues with commercial vehicles.
