‘Speed and flat tire’ contributed to crash that killed trucker in Texas

Published:

The Grapevine Police Department (GPD) is investigating a fatal commercial vehicle crash that occurred over the weekend.

The crash occurred at 5:30 a.m. on July 6 in Grapevine, Texas.

Police say that a truck driver “was taking the exit from northbound SH-121 to eastbound I-635 when he failed to make the curve.”

The semi truck struck the left guardrail, then rolled over, coming to a stop in the median.

GPD said that the driver, a 62 year old Plano resident, had already died by the time that officers arrived on scene.

“It appears both speed and a flat tire contributed to the crash,” GPD said.

The accident closed the eastbound exit onto I-635 for approximately six hours.
