Tanker truck flips swerving to avoid disabled car without lights on

A motorist was cited after leaving his disabled car in a lane of travel, causing a tanker truck to overturn on Thursday morning.

The accident happened on the evening of December 26th in Plainfield, Connecticut along Interstate 395.

Truck driver Robert Daniels swerved to avoid a car stopped partially blocking a travel lane without lights on. The sudden swerve caused the tanker truck to overturn, which led the tanker to leak liquid nitrogen.

The Plainfield Fire Department reported that the gas leak did not pose a threat and was harmless.

The motorist left the scene, but was identified as James Fitzgerald. He received multiple traffic violations and was summoned to court for a previous misdemeanor.

The truck driver sustained a small cut on his face, but no other injuries were reported.
