Tesla driver dead after colliding with disabled big rig in the left lane of an Indiana interstate

Indiana State Police -Sellersburg (ISP) is investigating a fatal two vehicle crash that occurred in Harrison County on Wednesday.

The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. on July 10 on I-64 eastbound near mile marker 99.5.

The preliminary investigation conducted by ISP indicates that a 2011 Kenworth was eastbound in the left lane on I-64 when it “experienced a mechanical issue causing the vehicle to lose power.”

The truck driver was not able to move over to the right lane or shoulder due to traffic and came to a stop in the left lane of the interstate.

ISP says that the truck driver called 911 and “and successfully placed orange safety triangles out behind the truck.”

Soon after, a black 2023 Tesla T3 driven by Dr. Suresh Kumar Lohano, 50, “approached from the west but failed to merge into the right lane before colliding with the rear of the semi-trailer, killing Dr. Lohano.”

The truck driver was not injured.

The crash is under investigation.
