Texas cops seize $2 million in cocaine from semi truck during traffic stop

Authorities in Texas recently seized millions of dollars worth of cocaine from a semi truck stopped for a traffic violation.

Shortly before 5 p.m. on April 16, a semi truck was stopped in McAllen, Texas, for a traffic violation.

The traffic stop was conducted by Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division (CID), with assistance from the Texas Highway Patrol.

When the truck was searched, officers uncovered “90 cellophane-wrapped bundles containing cocaine concealed inside a pallet of dried goods in the cargo area.”

The seized cocaine weighs 216 pounds and has a street value of $2 million, according to Texas DPS.

Following the traffic stop and cocaine seizure, authorities say that the investigation then led to a residence in McAllen, where AR-15 rifles and one AK-47 were recovered.

Police then arrested Texas residents Francisco Marquez-Carretero, Tania Rodriguez-Hernandez and Christian Martinez Caudillo on charges of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance.
