Trash truck driver dead after sliding off “slippery” ramp

Trash truck driver dead after truck slides off a “slippery” ramp in Baltimore on Thursday afternoon.

The accident happened on April 4th on southbound Maryland Route 295 near Monroe Street in south Baltimore, Maryland.

According to WBAL TV, the 35-year-old unnamed trash truck driver died in the accident. No other injuries or deaths have been reported.

Video of the crash scene shows the garbage truck on its side under the on ramp from southbound Interstate 95 to the southbound Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

The incident did cause slowed traffic but no lanes were closed during the investigation and clean up. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call police at 443-604-3189.

This is the second time a large truck has crashed on the ramp this year, and those familiar with the stretch of road say that it can be tricky to drive on.

“I’m very familiar with the ramp, you have to go slow,” said Dawnn Johnson, who drives 295 every day. “That ramp is really sharp so if you’re not paying attention, if it’s slippery, we’ve been having a lot of rain the last couple of days, because of the sharp turn I would try and slow down even more.”

No further information on the incident has been released.
