The Iowa State Patrol Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit (ISPCMVU) recently nabbed a commercial vehicle driver for a major equipment violation.
On Monday, October 28, ISPCMVU took to social media to highlight a traffic stop that uncovered a potentially dangerous equipment failure.

“While following this truck and trailer a couple days ago, it did not take long for our CMVU Trooper to realize the truck wasn’t sitting quite right. Upon inspection, it was discovered the frame had completely broke on one side. Thankfully it was stopped before more damage or a crash occurred!” Iowa troopers said.
More than 100 people commented on the post, many noting that the driver should have spotted the trailer problem during a pre-trip inspection. See what folks had to say below.
- “If only we had we had a process to catch something like. Maybe a before and after use inspection.”
- “But…but…honest…it wasn’t like that when I did my pre trip this morning.”
- “This is 100% proof that the driver isn’t doing his or her pre and post trip. I hope they were charged with operating a defective vehicle and endangering the public.”
- “Doesn’t surprise me with some of Iowa roads we have to drive on!”
- “You don’t suppose it has been overloaded a time or two…”
