Truck driver admits to murder & more on his death-bed, taking remaining secrets to grave

Published:

Police are asking the general public for more information after a truck driver admits to murder and other crimes on death-bed.

According to Wood TV 8, 64-year-old Garry Artman was serving a life sentence for a 1996 cold case murder in Michigan and awaiting trial for a 2006 murder case of a 24-year-old Dusty Shuck when he was admitted to a Michigan hospital for treatment of a terminal illness in December of 2023.

During his stay at the Michigan hospital, Artman was interviewed by investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit. As the interview went on, Artman eventually confessed to the murder of Shuck, prompting further interviews reported First State Update.

During further interviews with police, Artman admitted responsibility for several more crimes against different people, but without disclosing much detail. Artman soon passed away on December 28th, 2023 while incarcerated at the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Artman died before police could extract further information from the ailing truck driver. Now, police are searching for anyone who might have more information on the crimes Artman admitted to. Police believe Artman’s job as an OTR truck driver may have contributed to his breadth of crimes, and believe he could be connected to more unsolved cases.

Anyone with information that may aid officers in their investigation of these crimes is encouraged to call the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit at 410-996-7881.
