Truck driver arrested after Iowa troopers discover overweight violation, company’s federal out-of-service order

Published:

The Iowa State Patrol Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit arrested and charged a truck driver for a variety of violations including violating a federal out-of-service order.

According to a December 5 statement from the Iowa State Patrol, a truck was recently stopped by a law enforcement officer who suspected that the vehicle was overweight.

During the traffic stop, police discovered that not only was the truck “extremely overweight,” but the driver had been placed out-of-service twice for violations including not having a proper license.

Additionally, the Iowa State Patrol discovered that the trucking company as a whole had been issued a federal out-of-service order.

The truck driver was arrested and transported to jail on multiple charges.

“The consequences for failing to correct violations noted on inspections will only increase in severity the longer violations are ignored!” the Iowa State Patrol said.
