Truck driver charged after load of industrial paper rolls shifted, toppling semi, Virginia troopers say

Published:

Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating an early morning crash involving a semi truck hauling large rolls of paper.

The crash occurred on November 7 on I-95 in Richmond, Virginia.

“At approximately 2:30 a.m., troopers arrived at the scene to find the tractor-trailer on its side. The driver, 33-year-old Savanna Purdue of North Carolina, was traveling southbound in the left lane when the incident occurred. Purdue was en route back to North Carolina when the load she was hauling shifted, causing the tractor-trailer to overturn,” VSP said.

No one was injured.

The investigation is ongoing, but VSP says that speed is believed to be a factor.

VSP says that Purdue was charged with reckless driving and improper passing.
