Police responded to rescue a truck driver who plummeted into a North Carolina river on Friday morning.
The incident occurred early on Friday, March 15, in Rutherford County, North Carolina.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, N.C. (RCSO) responded to the Second Broad River after a truck hauling a flatbed trailer crashed off the roadway into the water below.
“Upon arrival the operator of the tractor-trailer was outside the vehicle standing on the fuel tank, surrounded by water…” RCSO said.
First responders from multiple agencies performed a water rescue to reach the truck driver and bring him to safety.
The truck driver was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
“Expect delays on US Highway 74, between Old Caroleen Road and Ellenboro Henrietta Road,” RCSO said.
The crash is under investigation.
