A truck driver survived a frightening tumble down a steep embankment in El Dorado County, California, on Wednesday.
Around 8:30 a.m. on July 10, a semi truck was traveling west on Rattlesnake Bar Road when a rear trailer tire went off the narrow roadway on a sharp corner, causing the truck to overturn, the Mountain Democrat reports.
The truck rolled down an embankment, coming to rest in a wooded area.
Multiple agencies including El Dorado County Fire Protection District and the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
Firefighters say that it took 40 minutes to extricate the truck driver and transport him to an awaiting medical helicopter.
The truck driver suffered significant injuries but was alert and responsive during the extrication process.
