Truck driver rescued from semi dangling off bridge in Louisville

A truck driver was rescued on Friday after crashing partially off of a bridge in Louisville, Kentucky.

Officials responded around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1, to the Clark Memorial Bridge over the Ohio River between Indiana and Louisville.

Early reports from Fox 19 indicate that the truck is believed to have been northbound on the bridge when it crossed into the southbound lanes and then though the guardrail, leaving the cab of the truck dangling from the bridge.

The Louisville Fire Department was able to lower a first responder down off the bridge to rescue the truck driver.

The truck remains hanging off the Clark Memorial Bridge.

Sysco issued the following statement on the incident:

Sysco is enormously grateful to rescue services and law enforcement who quickly and safely resolved the accident on the Clark Memorial Bridge today. We are thankful our Sysco colleague is safe and thank the first responders for their courageous efforts rescuing our driver. Safety is a priority at Sysco, and we are cooperating with the law enforcement investigation.

This is a developing story.
