Truck driver’s body found in big rig submerged in California aqueduct

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating a death discovered after a submerged semi truck was removed from an aqueduct.

The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on Sunday, December 22, in Kern County, California.

According to CHP – Fort Tejon – Grapevine, “The commercial vehicle was traveling northbound on I-5, north of Grapevine Road when for unknown reasons at this time traveled to the right leaving the roadway. The commercial vehicle traveled uncontrolled through an open field, crashing into the aqueduct.”

Local outlet KGET reports that the driver was found deceased in the cab when crews removed the vehicle from the water.

The identity of the truck driver has not been released.
