Truck stop robber collects merchandise in trash can, pistol-whips employee

A truck stop robber utilized a trash can to collect his findings before pistol whipping an employee at an Alabama Flying J over the weekend. 

The robbery occurred at 3 p.m. on January 20th at the Flying J in Hope Hull, Alabama. 

According to WSFA 12, the man entered the store, went behind the counter, and started stuffing merchandise into a gray trash can. An employee then confronted the thief, who struck the employee with a silver pistol and forced him onto the ground. The suspect then fled the scene. 

Investigators say that the suspect was caught on surveillance video, but has only been identified as a black male wearing a black beanie, black hoodie, dark pants, and gray shoes.
