Truck thief caught after driving by truck owner’s daughter on highway by chance

A stolen semi truck was recovered earlier this month when the truck thief just so happened to drive it right by the truck owner’s daughter on a Florida highway.

The incident happened on June 3rd near Miami-Dade in Florida.

According to Local10, the 22-year-old woman, who did not want to be identified, was driving on the Palmetto Expressway when she noticed a familiar-looking bobtail commercial truck passing her on the highway. She says she sped up to make sure it was really her dad’s truck, and when she felt sure that it was, she kept following him.

“We were following him for a very long time, 20 to 30 minutes,” she said. “He made this very awkward turn and then we had to make that very awkward turn behind him.”

She says she first called her dad and then called police, who were able to get the stolen truck stopped in a parking lot. The suspects inside of the truck cab took off, but police eventually caught up to them and took them into custody. Their identities and exact charges against them have not been released.

“He [my dad] said ‘eres una llegua,’” the woman said of her dad’s response. “A female horse. Like, ‘you’re a beast,’ you know what I’m saying?”
