Trucker charged with theft after getting fired and then driving away in company’s semi truck

A truck driver is facing felony theft charges for leaving the trucking terminal in a company semi truck shortly after getting fired.

The incident was reported just after 3:30 p.m. on Monday, June 19th in Glenwood, Illinois near LeClaire.

According to OurQuadCities News, 43-year-old Angelic Eicke was fired by West Side Transport while at their terminal. After she was fired, she returned to her company truck, got inside, and drove away from the company.

After Eicke ignored multiple attempts by the company to contact her, West Side Transport called police and reported the 2021 Freightliner stolen. Police were advised that the rig entered Interstate 80 near LeClaire, and Eicke was eventually stopped 170 miles from the trucking company terminal.

Eicke was arrested, but eventually released on her own recognizance. A preliminary hearing has been set for July 5th in Scott County Court.
