Trucker cited for careless driving in accident with 100-year-old motorist

A 100-year-old motorist was injured in a wreck with a semi truck in Nebraska on Friday. 

The accident happened on February 2nd in Waverly, Nebraska at around 3 p.m.

According to 1011 Now News, the westbound semi truck traveling on Highway 6 struck the southbound sedan traveling on 141st Street. The motorist, 100-year-old Darleen Marolf, was transported to a nearby hospital with two broken ribs, two cracked vertebrae, and multiple other bumps and bruises. 

The 29-year-old truck driver from Indiana was cited for careless driving as a result of the accident. 

Despite her advanced age and injuries, as of Saturday, February 3rd, Marolf’s family reports that  it “looks like she is going to make it.” Darleen was married to Waverly’s first mayor, and is known as “Waverly’s first First Lady.”
