Trucker crawls out wrecked window after falling asleep at wheel

Published:

A truck driver is okay after falling asleep at the wheel and wrecking a truck loaded with prefabricated walls.

The accident happened at around 7 a.m. in Dennistown Plantation, Maine on Route 201.

According to WGME 13, the semi truck was hauling prefabricated walls for constructing homes when the truck driver fell asleep. The tractor trailer then veered off of Route 201 and struck a utility pole before overturning.

The truck driver was able to escape the wrecked rig by crawling through a small opening left in the driver’s side window. The driver suffered only minor injuries.

Cleanup of the incident involved loading the walls onto another truck, which caused traffic delays in the area. No further information has been released.
