Trucker drives backwards for a mile after entering parkway

Published:

A truck driver had to drive in reverse for about a mile after entering a parkway in New York on Thursday morning.

The incident happened on August 15th on the westbound Northern State Parkway in Long Island, New York.

According to CBS New York, the truck driver entered the parkway, where commercial vehicles are not permitted, and eventually encountered an overpass that was only 10 feet, 1 inch tall. The semi truck was unable to drive beneath the low bridge.

Officials then shut down traffic on the westbound side of the Northern State Parkway, allowing the truck driver to drive in reverse along the parkway until he could exit the roadway.

The incident caused traffic backups that have since been cleared. No further information has been released.
