Trucker rescued by helicopter after intense flooding

Trucker rescued by helicopter after intense flooding in east Texas earlier this week. 

The rescue was one of two that occurred in Newton County, Texas near Beaumont on Wednesday, April 10th along FM 1416. 

A semi truck was traveling on FM 1416 where it crosses Big Cow Creek east of Texas Highway 87 when it was swept off of the roadway. The truck driver, who has not been identified, was then rescued from the floodwaters by helicopter

A second incident in the same area involved a pedestrian who was swept off the road and another man who attempted to rescue him by boat. Both men had to be rescued. 

“I want to thank our Emergency Management Coordinator Chief Mark McCall and all other Newton County and assisting agencies for doing a great job,” Newton County Precinct Four Constable Howie Wonders told 12News.
