A truck driver is dead after being hit by another driver while standing outside his truck parked on an exit ramp.
The incident occurred at about 10:15 a.m. on Friday morning, August 30th on the exit ramp from Interstate 275 East to state Route 4 in Springdale, Ohio.
According to Dayton Daily News, 57-year-old Darren P. Hayes was standing next to his disabled tractor trailer parked on the ramp when a second semi truck drove onto the shoulder, hitting him.
Hayes was knocked to the ground and became trapped under the rear tires of his own truck. First responders were able to free him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second truck was not hurt.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit is currently investigating the incident. No further information has been released.
