Trucker wins lottery, says he’ll use “unbelievable” prize to grow his trucking company

North Carolina will soon see a growing trucking company after trucker wins lottery, plans to use money to buy more trucks.

Truck driver Wiliam Roberts says he was just sipping his morning coffee in Morrisville, North Carolina when his life changed.

“I got up Sunday morning and went to buy a cup of coffee from the store,” he recalled. “I sat in my car drinking my coffee while I scratched my ticket,” he said to WRAL News.

As he scratched his ticket, Roberts revealed a $1 million scratch off prize. He says it isn’t the first time he’s won some money – he once won $500 – but this is the first time he ever won so big.

“I’ve been doing pretty well on that $50 ticket,” he said. “This win was unbelievable though.”

Roberts was given the option to collect $1 million in $50,000 installments for 20 years, or cash out for $600,000 right away. Roberts chose the $600,000 option, and walked away with $429,014 after taxes.

“I’m a truck driver,” he said, “so I’ll probably invest the money into buying more trucks for my business.”
