Truckers gather to pass out holiday turkeys to families in need

Published:

Truckers gathered in an outlet parking lot to pass out holiday turkeys to families in need on Sunday.

The “Truckers for Turkeys” event hosted by Long Island Cares was held in the Deer Park neighborhood of New Jersey on November 3rd.

According to Long Island News 12, Truckers from all corners of the tri-state area packed the parking lot of Red Lobster at the Tanger Outlets to hand out turkeys to families experiencing food insecurity. The event also featured a truck show, a DJ, food trucks, and an appearance from Santa.

“It’s really just wonderful to see how strong this support is here on Long Island for people who are struggling,” said Katherine Fritz, Long Island Cares vice president of Development in Communications.
