A trucker’s lottery win left him “screaming” at the wheel when he realized his good fortune.
Berhane Meharena says he purchased a ticket from the Virginia Lottery’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle back in December and then forgot about it. As he was trucking through Texas recently, he remembered the ticket and decided to check it – and that’s when he realized what he had won.
“I was by myself in the truck,” Meharena said to lottery officials. “I was screaming!”
Meharena then drove back home to Arlington, Virginia to claim his prize, but got sick on the way home, forcing him to wait a few more days at home before claiming his million dollar prize.
“This was a lucky year,” he said.
Meharena says he is not sure what he will do with the money yet.
