Minnesota OSHA has fined a trucking company over $600,000 after a worker died at one of their facilities in March.
The worker died in March 2024 at Wayne Transport Inc’s facility in Virginia, Minnesota. The company is based in Rosemount, Minnesota, and employs around 700 truck drivers at 12 trucking terminals.
According to Northern News Now, MNOSHA inspected Wayne Transport’s terminals after the death of the worker and issued 10 citations for general industry violations. The report states that Wayne Transports did not adequately protect employees from hazards in confined spaces.
The company was also issued citations for lack of safety data sheets for chemicals kept inside the truck tanker trailers, and for not having a joint labor-management safety committee.
Wayne Transports is contesting the violations. The details surrounding the employee’s death have not been released.
