Two dead in seven vehicle crash after semi crosses I-70 median

Police are investigating a double fatality crash that occurred on I-70 in Missouri on Monday afternoon.

The crash occurred at 2:30 p.m. on August 5 on I-70 near the Business Loop 70 exit in Columbia, Missouri.

According to the Columbia Missouri Police Department, a semi truck traveling on westbound I-70 struck another westbound vehicle. The semi truck then swerved off westbound I-70, went through the median, and entered the eastbound lanes of the interstate.

The semi truck struck an eastbound U-Haul head-on.

A total of seven vehicles were involved in the crash.

One woman in the U-Haul died at the scene. Another woman in the U-Haul was transported to a hospital but later died from her injuries.
