Two people were found severely decomposed in a semi truck trailer parked behind a convenience store.
The people were discovered around midnight on Wednesday night, July 17th, on Milwee Street near Bolin Road, not far from W. 34th Street and U.S. 290 in northwest Houston, Texas.
According to ABC 13, someone at a nearby convenience store overheard two homeless people gossiping about two dead bodies in a tractor trailer and called police to report it. Officers arrived at the business to find a fleet of Purple Heart trucks parked in a lot in the back, and began searching through the trucks for the reported bodies. Police eventually found the bodies in the trailer of a commercial vehicle with a hole cut out of the trailer roof.
“There’s a hole, you can see, up on the very top of the truck. It looks like there’s a hole cut out. And officers, HFD, got a ladder, got up there, and they found out when they looked in the hole, there appears to be two bodies for sure,” said Lt. R. Willkens. “Almost like mummies.”
Police say there were indications that the two people were homeless found inside of the trailer, but the cause of their death has not been officially determined. Heat may have been a contributing factor, reported CW 39.
The trailers were loaded with donated clothes and were bound for Value Village Thrift stores. Employees say homeless people cutting holes in the trailers has been an ongoing issue.
