U.S. Coast Guard rescues dog trapped in a shipping container for at least a week

U.S. Coast Guard marine inspectors recently helped rescue “Connie the Container Dog,” who was found at a port in Texas after being trapped in a shipping container for days.

On January 31, 2024, marine inspectors from Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston Texas were at work aboard a local cargo ship at the Port of Houston when they heard “barking and scratching” coming from a shipping container.

When the inspectors opened up the container, they found a dog who they believed had been trapped for at least a week without food or water.

The inspectors were able to get the dog out of the container and provide her with water.

They nicknamed her “Connie the Container Dog.”

Forever Changed Animal Rescue later reported that Connie is pregnant and is living with a foster family.
