VIDEO: Pickup’s sudden swerve takes out trucker’s wheel in 9 vehicle pile up

A dash cam video captured the moment a pickup truck driver caused a 9 vehicle pileup crash in Oklahoma on Wednesday. 

The accident happened on Interstate 44 northbound, south of NW 36th just before 7 a.m. on October 23rd.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a motorist in a white pickup truck with a covered bed is driving distracted when they encounter a line of stopped traffic. The pickup then hits an SUV stopped in front of it and swerves into the filming semi truck to the left. 

The force of that impact took out the semi truck’s passenger side wheel, reducing his steering abilities and causing him to smash into several vehicles stopped in the line of traffic. 

A total of nine vehicles were involved in the accident, but only two people were hurt. Those two individuals were taken to a hospital with non life threatening injuries. 

“DRIVERS! PAY ATTENTION!” The Oklahoma Highway patrol wrote in a post about the incident.
