Video shows suspect lighting big rigs on fire in commercial truck yard

Canadian police have shared surveillance video of an act of arson in a commercial truck yard in hopes of identifying and locating the suspect.

At 1 a.m. on January 17, 2024, police responded to a commercial truck yard in the area of Newkirk Road and Crosby Road in Richmond Hill, Ontario, for a reported fire.

When officers arrived on scene, they found two semi trucks fully engulfed in flames.

First responders extinguished the fire. No one was hurt.

York Regional Police investigators reviewed surveillance footage and discovered that that an unknown suspect arrived at the yard, doused two truck cabs in a flammable liquid and lit them on fire.

Police describe the suspect as a male, 5’8”, heavy build, wearing a black jacket with a hood, khaki pants and a white face mask.
