The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) shared body cam and dash cam video of a close call involving a fatigued car driver on the Ohio Turnpike.
The video was captured on early in the morning on June 25 on the Ohio Turnpike in Sandusky County.
In the video, you can see a trooper responding to a previous roadside emergency. The trooper is forced to run to avoid a red car that nearly strikes him and a parked vehicle. The trooper immediately chases down the car driver and initiates a traffic stop.
“I hope you have a really good excuse for just about killing both of us,” the trooper says.
The car driver blames the near-miss on fatigue and apologizes. He tells the trooper he will proceed to the nearest rest stop and stay there for the night.
“Move over for flashing lights, no matter the color! If you can’t move over, you must slow down,” OSHP said.
