VIDEO: Worker struck on the backside by construction barrel clipped by oversized load

Published:

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) shared video of a recent construction zone incident involving an oversized load as a reminder to drivers to slow down and move over for road workers.

The video was captured on I-88 in Otsego County and shared by NYSDOT on July 19, 2024.

In the video, you can see an oversized clip a couple of construction barrels, sending one barrel flying. The barrel strikes the worker’s backside, sending him to his knees beside the guardrail.

NYSDOT says that the worker was not seriously injured.

“Another completely preventable work zone incident – Our crews put their lives on the line daily to keep NY roads safe for you. Their request is simple: slow down, move over when possible, and stay alert,” officials said.
