Watch as this mini semi tire explosion makes these firefighters jump

Published:

A small semi tire explosion startled the firefighters battling the blaze jump on the side of the 101 near Los Angeles early on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred on the 101 Freeway near Van Nuys in Los Angeles, California on March 26th at about 1 a.m.

According to KTLA 5, the semi truck tires on the rear of the cab caught fire as it drove on the freeway. The truck driver was able to detach the trailer from the cab before the flames spread to the cargo, but the cause of the fire is unclear.

Firefighters responded to the scene and were working to extinguish the flames when the rig experienced a small semi tire explosion, causing the firefighters to leap backwards in concern. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident.

Multiple lanes of the westbound 101 were shut down as crews worked to extinguish the blaze and clear the wreckage. The freeway has since been reopened.
