Watch as Truckee tow drivers dig out dozens of big rigs buried by blizzard

Published:

Stunning video shows the work of Truckee tow drivers as they recover dozens of big rigs buried under several feet of snow from a weekend blizzard.

Over the weekend, a powerful snowstorm pummeled the Sierra Nevadas, dumping more than seven feet of snow in some locations and closing a long stretch I-80 for multiple days through Monday morning.

Video shared by WXChasing captures the work of tow drivers in the Truckee, California, area as they recover trucks stuck in snow all the way up to the driver’s windows along I-80.

I-80 in the Truckee area reopened to passenger vehicles on Monday morning. Trucks are expected to be released at 2 p.m. with max chain controls. Follow Caltrans for the latest travel information.
