Wild driver-facing video shows Amazon van chopped in half by train

Published:

Newly obtained video captures the moment that an Amazon van was chopped in half by a train.

The video was captured in Ixonia, Wisconsin, in November 2021, but the dash cam video was only publicly released this week by TMZ.

Amazon delivery driver Alexander Evans was driving an Amazon delivery van at River Valley Road in Ixonia when the back half of the van was ripped off by an oncoming Amtrak train.

“Preliminary investigation at the scene indicated that the vehicle was heading northbound on River Valley Road when it attempted to cross the tracks. An Amtrak train was heading eastbound and stuck the vehicle while it was crossing the tracks,” said the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Evans told the outlet that he is deaf in one ear and did not hear the train coming until it was too late.

“Literally, it was like one long beep, horn from the train, and I put my foot on the gas, kind of like trying. I don’t know how far I’m going to get away from him,” Evans told WISN.

Remarkably, Evans was not injured in the crash.

According to WISN, there are no warning lights or signals at the railroad crossing.
