A tractor trailer reportedly forced a school bus off a roadway in Virginia before fleeing the scene on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred on September 17th in Botetourt County, Virginia along Catawba Road just before 4 p.m.
According to Augusta Free Press, a tractor trailer was driving on the wrong side of the road, which forced the school bus to swerve and leave the roadway in order to avoid a head-on collision. The bus then overcorrected and veered back onto the road before veering off to the left side and into a utility pole. The crash brought down optic and phone lines.
A student aide on the bus sustained non life threatening injuries, and the only student on the bus was not hurt. The bus driver was also uninjured.
The tractor trailer involved in the incident immediately fled the scene and has not been found.
The road was shut down for several hours as Virginia State Police investigated. No further information has been released.
