$16M in cocaine discovered in trailer after trucker noticed altered seal during pretrip

$16 million worth of cocaine was discovered inside a tractor trailer parked at an Indiana truck stop earlier this year after a truck driver noticed his trailer had an altered seal during his pretrip.

The contraband was discovered back in June at the Pilot Travel Center on East County Road in Whiteland, Indiana. Now, police are still searching for suspects in the massive load of contraband.

According to News4SanAntonio, a truck driver was performing his pretrip inspection when he noticed an altered seal on his trailer, as if it had been tampered with. The driver called police, who opened the trailer and discovered ten boxes that were not a part of the trucker’s original load.

The boxes were found to contain $16 million worth of cocaine- one of the largest cocaine seizures in Indiana’s history. The quantity of the cocaine was so large that there was not enough space to store it in the evidence room.

The cocaine has since been destroyed, as it posed a security concern. Authorities are still working to determine suspects in the case. The trucker is not a suspect and has not been charged.
