$5,600 in fines issued to box truck driver and company for 18 violations

Published:

Ontario police issued over a dozen citations to a box truck driver and company for a variety of mechanical and driver violations.

On November 1, 2025, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) – East Region detailed a recent box truck traffic stop that took place on Highway 401 near Lansdowne.

The truck drew attention from police for driving 57 km/h (35 m.p.h.) along Highway 401 “for no apparent reason.”

“The driver had NO commercial vehicle documentation and no records for hours of service, the truck was overweight AND the driver did not have the proper class of licence. There were also multiple mechanical safety violations and there had been no annual inspections or CVOR,” OPP said.

The traffic stop resulted in 18 tickets issued to the driver and his company, adding up to $5,600 in total fines.

Additionally, the box truck’s plates removed and the vehicle was declared “unfit” after a full OPP and MTO inspection.

OPP shared images of the box truck and said that graffiti on the side of the truck was obscured “in order prevent the tagger from gaining any extra ‘fame.'”
