Arizona troopers place 46% of stopped commercial vehicles out-of-service during Phoenix blitz

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Highway Patrol recently sidelined nearly half of the commercial vehicles that they stopped during series of targeted operations in the Phoenix area.

On November 19, AZDPS announced results from “several details targeting seatbelt use and collision-causing violations along Phoenix Metro freeways” over the last week conducted by the Highway Patrol State Troopers with the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.

During the Phoenix details, troopers placed 46% of the commercial vehicles stopped out-of-service for various safety violations.

Troopers also issued 25 citations for seatbelt violations in a single day.

“Numerous false logbook entries, drivers operating with flat tires, and equipment violations were also found. Many of these violations could have been prevented with a simple pre-trip inspection!” AZDPS said.

AZDPS shared photos of various commercial vehicle violations discovered during the blitz.

“The holiday season is approaching fast, and so is increased traffic. Our Troopers would like to remind everyone to buckle up, check your vehicles before you travel and obey traffic laws to ensure a safe trip,” AZDPS advised.
