Army helps in management of truck fire involving trailer full of howitzer rounds

A team of Army specialists was called in to help after a semi truck hauling howitzer rounds caught fire near Indianapolis on Tuesday. 

The incident happened on December 9th in Bartholomew County, Indiana along Interstate 65. 

According to WRTV, the semi truck was hauling a load of approximately 300 howitzer rounds when the truck caught fire. The location where the fire began has not been released. 

An Army explosive ordnance disposal team was called to the scene to help manage the situation involving explosives. 

I-65 was shut down from Exit 64 in Bartholomew County to Exit 55 in Jackson County for about four hours as teams worked to render the munitions safe. No injuries have been reported. The interstate has since reopened.
