‘Astonishing’ 50% of inspected trucks out-of-service in detail designed to catch weigh station skippers, Ontario cops say

Canadian police released results from a recent commercial vehicle inspection effort that took place in the Lincoln, Ontario, area.

On August 7, 2025, multiple agencies partnered for an initiative intended to “identify commercial motor vehicles intentionally bypassing the Vineland Inspection Station” and to enforce safety regulations in Lincoln and West Lincoln.

In total, 26 commercial vehicles were inspected, and “an astonishing 50% (13 trucks) were removed from the highway after significant safety concerns were identified,” according to the the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS).

Police issued a total of 13 charges for violations including defective tires, brakes, improper daily inspection, expired annual inspection, expired permit, insecure load, driving with major defect, and improper registered weight.

Other participating agencies include the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), the Town of Lincoln, and the Niagara Region.
