Blewett Pass closed as first snow of the season leaves semi trucks blocking road

Blewett Pass was closed on Monday morning as the first substantial snow of the season caused semi trucks to become disabled. 

The snowfall and resulting closure happened early on Monday morning, October 13th along US Highway 97 near mile marker 164 at Blewett Pass in the Wenatchee Mountains

The pass was closed in both directions by 6:30 a.m. with no estimated time of reopening. 

Washington Department of Transportation reported that the closure was “due to heavy snowfall, disabled semis and collisions.”

Washington State Patrol also reported that the roadwas was closed due to “multiple disabled semis blocking due to snow conditions.”

No further information has been released.
