Blitz yields 140 commercial vehicle inspections, 85 charges, Canadian cops say

Dozens of charges were issued during a single day commercial vehicle inspection blitz in Ontario, Canada.

The “Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspection Initiative” took place in Ayr, Ontario, on October 16, 2025, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) – Highway Safety Division.

The inspections were conducted for the purpose of “ensuring CMVs met safety and compliance standards, supporting ongoing efforts to keep Ontario’s roads safe,” police said.

  • 140 vehicles inspected
  • 41 vehicles placed out-of-service
  • 85 charges laid
  • 118 vehicles were inspected for fuel tax evasion – full compliance
  • 9 inspections for International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA)
  • 3 license plates removed
  • 1 ASDE administered resulting in a 3-Day driver’s license suspension
