Blowing dust possible cause of large crash involving 6 semi trucks that killed 4

Published:

Investigators say blowing dust may have been the cause of a serious wreck involving multiple CMVs that left four people dead on Saturday.

The accident happened on March 1st near Tonopah, Arizona just before 1 p.m. along Interstate 10 during potentially unusual conditions.

According to Fox Weather, police say the incident was a chain-reaction crash involving six tractor trailers, four passenger vehicles, a van, and a RV towing a trailer.

Four people were killed in the crash, and two people are in critical condition. Six more people were also injured in the incident.

An official cause of the incident has not been released, but there were numerous Dust Storm Warnings issued around the time of the crash. Investigators say the dust storm may have brought blowing dust to the area, causing severely reduced visibility.

No further information has been released.
