Body cam catches Arizona trooper’s close call with runaway truck tire

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) shared body cam video from a trooper’s recent run-in with a runaway truck tire.

The body cam video was shared by AZDPS on April 8.

“Last month, one of our Highway Patrol troopers was standing next to his patrol vehicle as he investigated a non-injury crash when he spotted a large tire coming right at him. He stepped out of the way just a few seconds before the rogue tire from a passing tractor-trailer collided with his open passenger door. Thankfully, no motorists or other vehicles were struck,” officials said.

AZDPS used the incident to remind truckers to check their tire inflation and tread depth to avoid blowouts as the weather warms up.
