Body cam video shows moment driver told police they had to shoot the monkeys set loose in crash

The body cam footage from officers responding to the scene of a crash shows the moment officers were told that they had to shoot the monkeys freed in the accident.

The body cam footage shows one of the responding officers speaking to a co-driver from the truck. That driver explains what kind of monkeys they are, and hands over some paperwork with information on the load.

“I’ve seen a lot of s**t. I ain’t seen this,” the officer says.

A short while later, the co-driver is seen answering a phone call, and then relaying the information he had just received from his boss: they have to shoot the monkeys.

“You gotta shoot it,” the driver says to an officers watching one of the monkeys scamper off into the forest. “You have to shoot it. They can’t get away. You have to shoot it.”

“All of ‘em?” one of the officers asked.

“All of them,” the driver responds. “All of the ones that are out.”

“Even if we can keep them contained and everything?”

“Yeah.”

“Alright.”

A total of five monkeys were shot at the scene. The remaining free monkeys were eventually found and killed by the following weekend.
