Several lanes of a bridge in Lake Charles will be closed this upcoming week for repairs to damage done in a 2020 hurricane.
Hurricane Laura hit Louisiana and surrounding areas in August of 2020, damaging lighting along the Interstate 210 bridge in Lake Charles. Now, nearly five years later, an $8 million project will shut down several lanes of the bridge to repair the lighting starting on March 10th.
According to 7 KPLC, I-210 eastbound side of the bridge will experience alternating left and right lane closures from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. from March 10th to 20th while crews install a concrete barrier.
I-210 westbound will experience alternating left and right lane closures from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. March 10th through 14th. Starting March 14th, the left lane of I-210 westbound will be closed until further notice. The bridge will be closed off to westbound traffic from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. MArch 14th through 20th.
The nearby Cove Lane exit will stay open through the closures. An 11 foot width limit will be in place on the bridge during the repairs. The entire project is expected to be completed by the fall.
