Charlotte, NC releases new truck parking app as part of “Quality of Life” project

The city of Charlotte has released a new platform to help truckers find safe and legal parking in the region as part of a new “Quality of Life” initiative.

The Commercial Truck Parking Tool is a website and app designed to provide truck drivers with information on where to safely and legally park in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, reported Queen City News.

The platform offers drivers a way to search for available parking based on their current location or entered address; outlines the city’s truck parking regulations, including fines and penalties for violating the rules; provides a ‘heat map’ showing real-time hot spots for CMV parking violations, high enforcement areas, and general CMV activity based on area; and gives truck parking lot owners the ability to submit information about their facilities such as costs, amenities, security features, and ease of access.

The city of Charlotte’s “Quality of Life” team released the platform as a way to address illegal parking in the city, which was previously cited as a top priority for the community, and is consistently a top concern in the trucking industry as a whole. The NCDOT has also recently worked to install signage at exits off of Interstate 85 to notify drivers that parking along the ramps is prohibited.
