The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is reminding truckers to do their pre-trip inspections after recently catching a big rig brake violation in the Auburn area.
On September 6, 2025, CHP’s Auburn Division took to social media to call a truck driver out for a brake violation.

From CHP:
“What’s that you say?!? Well, while on patrol, one of our eagle-eyed officers played a little game of “I spy with my little eye…”
This keen-eyed officer spied what they believed to be a commercial vehicle brake violation…
As luck would have it, they were right!
This is an EXTREMELY dangerous violation. Appropriate enforcement action was taken and the vehicle was removed from the roadway.
A big rig without all brakes in working order poses a grave danger to other motorists (not to mention its driver)
Last pic……Take note of the bailing wire that broke loose and was temporarily holding the brake chamber in place…
Something tells us somebody knew this was a problem before they left for their trip…
How was your pre-trip?!?
Be safe out there!!“
